Privacy Policy

What we collect when you take part, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Last updated: October 2, 2026

Plain-language summary: We only collect what you choose to give us when you submit an essay, post a comment, or contact us. We don’t sell your information. You can ask us to remove it at any time.

Who we are

The Article V Blueprint (“the project,” “we,” “us”) publishes a proposed rewrite of the U.S. Constitution and invites the public to read it, write about it, and debate it at articlevblueprint.org.

What we collect

  • When you submit an essay (Write): the name or pen name you choose, your email address, the subject you selected, your title, your essay text, and any source links you provide.
  • When you comment (Debate): the name you choose (optional — you may post as Anonymous), your comment text, and your stance (keep, change, or drop).
  • When you contact us: any information you include in your message.
  • When you use the Contact tool: the representative details you look up and paste, and the letter you write, stay in your browser — we don’t store them. If automatic representative lookup is enabled in future, the location you enter would be sent only to a lookup service to identify your representative, and we will update this policy before that happens.
  • Automatically: standard technical information your browser sends (such as IP address, device and browser type, and pages visited), collected by our hosting provider to keep the site secure and working. We may use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand traffic; these do not identify you personally.

You can take part without giving your real name. Comments may be posted anonymously, and essays may be published under a pen name.

How we use it

  • To review, moderate, proofread, fact-check, and publish essays and comments.
  • To contact you about a submission — for example, to confirm authorship, ask about sources, or tell you it has been published.
  • To champion the strongest essays beyond this site, including submitting them to the press as op-eds, with credit to the name you provided (never your email or other private details).
  • To operate, secure, and improve the site.

What we publish

Essays and comments are published for public debate. Anything you submit for publication — your essay or comment, and the name or pen name you attach to it — may be shown publicly on this site and shared elsewhere. Your email address is never published. Please do not include private information in text meant for publication.

Cookies and local storage

The site uses your browser’s local storage to make features work (for example, to hold a draft or remember a preference). If we add analytics or anti-spam tools (such as a bot check on submissions), those may set their own cookies; where required, we will ask for your consent first.

When you share to other platforms

The Share page provides buttons that open X, Facebook, Threads, Truth Social, Reddit, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, or Nextdoor. When you use one, you leave this site and are governed by that platform’s own privacy policy. We don’t receive your account details from them.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the site (such as our hosting and email providers), and only as needed to operate the project; or where required by law.

Data retention & security

We keep submissions and the contact details attached to them for as long as needed to run the project and the public record of the debate. We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no website can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices & rights

  • Ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it.
  • Ask us to remove or unpublish an essay or comment you submitted.
  • Withdraw consent for optional processing where it applies.

To make any request, email privacy@articlevblueprint.org.

Children

This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the project grows and as the live site’s features are finalized. We will revise the “Last updated” date above when we do.
